The Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) program provides the broad skill set required for entry-level success and long-term progression in the dynamic career areas in electrical engineering technology.
Students receive a core education in basic electrical circuits, computer-oriented hardware including electronics, microprocessors and digital systems, and electrical power and machinery, 和y focus on their chosen specialization through junior and senior courses in communications, digital circuits and systems, advanced PLCs, control systems, smart grids, alternative energies, microcomputer-based 设计, and local area networks. At course level, students are also exposed to current cyber-security issues related to various systems they study.

Electronics Engineers, Except Computer
Research, 设计, 开发, or 测试 electronic components and systems for commercial, industrial, military, or scientific use employing knowledge of electronic theory and materials properties. Design electronic circuits and components for use in fields such as telecommunications, aerospace guidance and propulsion control, acoustics, or instruments and controls.
Electrical Engineers

Computer Hardware Engineers
Research, 设计, 开发, or 测试 computer or computer-related equipment for commercial, industrial, military, or scientific use. May supervise the manufacturing and installation of computer or computer-related equipment and components.
Mechatronics Engineers
Research, 设计, 开发, or 测试 automation, intelligent systems, smart devices, or industrial systems control.

Requirements
For completion of the EET major, a student must have a minimum overall cumulative grade point average of 2.00 in all courses required for the major, complete at least 30 hours of course work at Old Dominion University through on- or off-campus instruction, and complete an upper-level writing intensive course. To satisfy the upper-division general education requirement, students are required to complete any minor in the College of Engineering and Technology or the College of Sciences.
